Hi it's Diligent,

I have had bronchitis for six weeks. I went back to the doctor the other week and he gave me an inhaler. He said he's almost sure it is a case of passive smoking. My hubby has smoked for 20 years. The doctor said he has to smoke outside but he won't. He doesn't believe the doctor said that to me and I have used up my inhaler and am still coughing up phlegm (clear), so what do I do?

If any one has any info let me know I am going back down to the doctors office Wednesday morning to see what he says.

Dear Diligent:

My advice to you is this...the first thing that I would do if I were in your situation is get back to your doctor immediately since your condition hasn't improved and your inhaler is empty. The second thing I would do is kick your hubby to the curb. If he doesn't care enough about you to smoke outside or somewhere that doesn't affect your health, then he clearly isn't someone worthy of your love.

My mother quit smoking before my father was willing to give it up. She made him go outside to smoke and he did as she requested - he stood out there in the freezing cold of winter smoking his 2 1/2 packs a day. Not only is that stubbornness, determination, and a strong addiction to nicotine, but that's also...love. He was considerate enough of her feelings and health to go outside. I'm happy to say that they are both non-smokers now.
