Spring has arrived and it's time to clean house. But just the thought of cleaning your home leaves you breathless. Without help, spring cleaning can land you in the hospital if you're not careful. These 10 spring cleaning tips will help you get your spring cleaning done without leaving you breathless.

Spring Cleaning Tip #1 - Get Help

If you can't afford to hire a cleaning team to do your spring cleaning for you, ask a friend or family member to help you. Sometimes you can find a teenager looking for a few dollars who can assist you at least for the big tasks.

Spring Cleaning Tip #2 - Buy the Right Tools

Using the correct tools for the job can make it easier. For instance, if your spring cleaning involves washing the outside of your windows, try purchasing the window washing solutions that attach to your hose and disperse with the spray of the hose.

Spring Cleaning Tip #3 - Avoid Harsh Cleaning Chemicals

Cleaning chemicals typically cause irritation of the respiratory tract. Use mild non-aerosolized cleaning products to avoid dispersing droplets in the air that can be inhaled and cause irritation.

Spring Cleaning Tip #4 - Carefully Plan Your Spring Cleaning Day

Gather all the tools and cleaning products you will need before beginning your spring cleaning. To conserve your energy, gather your materials the night before to have them ready for when you begin your spring cleaning in the morning.

Spring Cleaning Tip #5 - Manage Your Tasks

Break your tasks into smaller ones and spread them out over a week or more, depending on how much spring cleaning you need to do. Be sure to schedule frequent breaks.

Spring Cleaning Tip #6 - Use a Cart

Use a wagon or cart to tote cleaning products. This will help you save energy and prevent injuries.

Spring Cleaning Tip #7 - Rest Often

Keep a chair handy so you have a place to sit when needed. Take frequent breaks and use breathing exercises to help control your breathing.

Spring Cleaning Tip #8 - Use a Dust Mask

When doing spring cleaning tasks that involve dust or particles, wear a dust mask. Even outdoor tasks such as grass cutting and clearing debris can release particles into the air, causing respiratory irritation.

Spring Cleaning Tip #9 - Drink Plenty of Water

Be sure to stay adequately hydrated during spring cleaning tasks by drinking plenty of water. On hot or humid days, consider doing your indoor spring cleaning or working outside early in the morning or late in the evening when temperatures are cooler.

Spring Cleaning Tip #10 - Keep a Phone Nearby

Don't push yourself. If you begin to feel out of breath, take a break. In case you do overexert yourself, keep a phone nearby so you can call for help if you need medical assistance.
