Blow the Whistle on Asthma is a event that symbolizes the importance of every breath we take. It's a way of making a difference for 24 million Americans who have asthma. It's a way of showing that you care and it's fun!

Why Should You Get Involved in Blow the Whistle on Asthma?

Asthma touches almost every individual in one way or another, whether it's family, friends or co-workers.

Here are a few reasons why the American Lung Association needs your help:

  • To help the estimated 24 million individuals who currently have asthma
  • To raise funds for important research and programs
  • To reduce the soaring economic costs of asthma. Over $14 billion is spent annually to keep Asthma under control.
  • To join with your neighbors, family and friends to fight the asthma epidemic
  • The Blow the Whistle on Asthma walk is a fun community event. It is not a race or test of fitness. This is a chance for people who care about asthma and other lung diseases to gather together, meet each other, and have some fun. At the same time, they support the American Lung Association as we fight to reduce suffering and find a cure for asthma.

The funds raised through Blow the Whistle on Asthma support American Lung Association efforts to reduce people's suffering from asthma and search for a cure, through research, community programs, programs in schools, and through advocacy at both the state and federal level.

    How Can You Help?

There are many ways to be a part of the project. This year, walks will be taking place throughout the country.
  • Walkers can form teams of family members, friends or co-workers and work together to raise money for the walk.
  • You can volunteer to help in the planning and organization process.
  • Your business can agree to sponsor Blow the Whistle on Asthma, or you can contribute to a team that is walking.
