Definition: N-Acetyl Cysteine (NAC) is a modified form of the dietary amino acid cysteine. It is believed to improve breathing in patients suffering from COPD. Daily doses of 400 to 1,200 mg of NAC is believed to reduce the number of bronchitis attacks.
